Consolidation continues at pace in the industry

Industry consolidation marches on as Japan Pulp & Paper buys two of three major Aussie paper merchants

Two of the three big Australian paper merchants, BJ Ball and KW Doggett are merging, with a majority share in the new entity being bought by Japan Pulp & Paper, as industry consolidation continues.

In the merger BJ Ball Australia will acquire 100 per cent of the shares of BJ Ball NZ and KW Doggett, with Japan Pulp & Paper buying a 51 per cent stake in the merged business.

The whole deal is subject to ACCC approval.

Details of management of the new entity, and any likely consolidation of warehousing and distribution have also not been released.
