Orora expands US operations
Acquisition of Pollock Packaging for $110m adds 440 employees, six distribution centres

Orora has purchased US-based Pollock Packaging in a $110m deal, adding a corrugated box manufacturing plant, and in-house packaging design service in Dallas, Texas.

The acquisition adds geographic reach for Orora in the US, complementing its capabilities in the country, which include an EFI Nozomi single-pass digital press, one of the first installed globally. Orora notes that it fits in with its growth strategy of bolt-on acquisitions in the US.

Orora notes that the acquisition, which fits within the Orora Packaging Solutions business, enhances its customer offering in the growing facility supplies market segment, providing a scale platform to drive growth.

Nigel Garrard, CEO, Orora, says, “The Pollock management team has a strong track record of proven performance and will remain with the business to support integration of the two businesses and delivery of anticipated synergies.

“Pollock aligns with Orora’s stated returns focused approach to allocating capital, as was the case with the acquisition of Bronco Packaging in August.”

Pollock is a 100-year old company in the US, serving the industrial, retail and facility supplies market segments, with some 440 employees, and revenues in excess of $355m. Pollock has in-house design, flexo folder gluers, rotary die cutting, flat die cutting, multicolour direct print, label laminating, kitting, speciality glueing, collating and packaging, assembly and fulfillment, along with warehousing.

It is based in Texas, with six sites in the second-largest US state, as well as a presence in Georgia, New Jersey, North Carolina, and California, covering both the East and West Coast.
